Been away need to do some work

I have been away for some dental work and a bit of relaxation.  We went to two hot pools which we really enjoyed.  Several book stores beckoned to which we succumbed and bought lots of books. One I bought was The Ocean at the end of the Lane by Neil Gaiman and it took a […]

Handspun Alpaca Robe

This is a blanket/robe woven with purchased wool warp and handspun alpaca weft. I am the hand spinner who was instrumental in the results, as well as being the weaver.  This is over 40″ wide by 88″ long plus fringes and lovely, warm and drapable. I would love to cuddle up in it on a […]

Inspiration shawl

This shawl was made from bamboo warp using the word Inspiration to arrange the stripes. This was purchased yarn from a shop which was closing and I only had one ball of each colour to work with so I did some twiddling. The weft is a slub, boucle grey mixed yarn in merino, alpaca and […]

Spinning at work

I was working in the Artisan where I am a member but had time to spin. I had brought some merino/silk/cashmere from my stash and had a great time spinning it. It is 100 gm and I only have a few grams to go. I think I will spin up some silk to ply with […]

Clean and Green Soap

I added some soap chips saved from previously made soap to this one. Some of them are green in colour. The scents in this one are tea tree, cedar and rosemary. All healing and clean smelling.

Anise Ostrich Soap

This one time only soap was made from adding two small bottles of ostrich oil I was able to obtain. I will not be getting any more. Although I only put in a bit of anise, along with pine and cedar essential oils, the anise is the most pervasive. Like all my soaps, mild, long […]

Olive Oil Soap

An unscented pure olive oil soap for those with sensitive skin. Requested by my husband and others. Also, as I am a felter, this is excellent to use in traditional felt making. Each bar costs $4.50 and I suggest ordering several to save on shipping costs. May be picked up at the studio.

Poppy Seed Soap

Here is a bar of poppy seed soap. The poppy seeds add a mild exfoliation and there is also some comfrey root powder which is healing to the skin. The essential oils added are lemon, lavender, and patchouli which gives this soap a lovely scent. My soaps are made from olive, coconut and palm oils […]

Hand dyed cotton scarf

Here is a scarf which was dyed this week with Procion dyes. It is a cotton fabric imported from India where it was woven. Very fine and drapes well. It can be wrapped around the neck or pulled out to use as a light weight shawl.  For slim people would make a nice sarong.
